Фахівець з орофаціального болю та декан Стоматологічного коледжу Університету Кентуккі. Засновник і директор Центру орофаціального болю в Університеті Кентуккі (заснований у 1977 році), визнаний піонером у галузі освіти з СНЩС і орофаціального болю.
Понад 50 років академічного та клінічного досвіду у галузі скронево-нижньощелепних розладів та управління орофаціальним болем. Розробив першу програму магістерського ступеня в галузі орофаціального болю в Сполучених Штатах, акредитовану Американською академією орофаціального болю. Програма резидентури з орофаціального болю була однією з перших, акредитованих Комісією зі стоматологічної акредитації, випустивши 65 резидентів повного дня з 26 країн.
Професор і керівник відділення орофаціального болю, штатний викладач Університету Кентуккі протягом 45 років. Міжнародний лектор, що прочитав понад 1300 запрошених лекцій у всіх штатах США та 59 зарубіжних країнах. Визнаний колегами «Всесвітнім послом орофаціального болю».
DMD Університету Кентуккі (1974). Заслужений професор служби ректорату. Автор підручника «Лікування скронево-нижньощелепних розладів та оклюзії» (8-е видання), перекладеного на 11 мов і використовуваного в більшості стоматологічних шкіл США. Редактор «Орофаціальний біль: Керівництво з класифікації, оцінки та лікування» (AAOP), що використовується як стандарти лікування в усьому світі. Понад 240 публікацій у наукових журналах. Колишній президент Американської академії орофаціального болю. Дипломат-засновник і двічі колишній президент Американської ради з орофаціального болю. Лауреат премії «Великий вчитель» Університету Кентуккі, премії Acorn штату Кентуккі, премії «Міжнародний стоматолог року» Міжнародної академії стоматології та введений до Залу видатних випускників Університету Кентуккі.
