Програма
Biomechanics is the foundation of orthodontic treatment. With a solid understanding of biomechanical principles, the doctor can provide treatment in an optimal timeframe for the patient. This leads to time savings for both the doctor and the patient, high efficiency in the orthodontist's work, and a reduction in the risks of complications associated with orthodontic treatment.
Join us for an intensive 3-day hands-on workshop with Dr. Giorgio Fiorelli, a world-renowned expert and the leading lecturer on orthodontic biomechanics in Europe. This course will completely transform your approach to orthodontic treatment mechanics!
Through a combination of theory, clinical case analysis, and hands-on training, you’ll master a new methodology that will help you overcome the limitations of traditional orthodontics.
During the course, you will:
– Understand the forces behind every tooth movement
– Optimize anchorage without unnecessary skeletal interventions
– Master cantilever mechanics for precise, controlled movements
– Design custom mechanics for complex cases.
In the practical session, you will work hands-on to:
– Bend and activate cantilevers for different clinical applications
– Bend and activate palatal and lingual arches.
You will master biomechanics at a level that will be valuable for every orthodontist, even if you do not work exclusively within this concept.
IMPORTANT: Course participants are required to bring their own tools to practice their practical skills.
The “Seminar. Standard”, “Seminar. Comfort” and “Seminar. VIP” participation options are also available for purchase.
Advantages of the “Hands-on workshop” participation option:
– Participation in the scientific program
– Participation in the hands-on workshop
– Coffee break
– Notes and handouts
– Certificate of participation
– ADA credits available upon request
– Lunch
– Priority seats in the venue

PROGRAM
Day 1, theoretical part
– Why it is important to have deep knowledge of biomechanics?
– The limits of standard protocol therapies, and the need for custom mechanics design
– The 5 pillars:
- Treatment goal
- Required force system
- Anchorage evaluation
- Stage definition
- Appliance design.
– How this sequence can help build a better appliance for your patients
– Essential biomechanics concepts of dental movements: how movement relates to a force system. A very short introduction to the fundamentals of mechanics
– Anchorage management: how to evaluate anchorage needs and increase anchorage without using TADs. When is skeletal anchorage needed, and what is the best approach for it?
– Cantilever mechanics: creative and predictable mechanics that can be used for various clinical problems.
Day 2, theoretical part
– Cantilever mechanics: continuation of creative and predictable mechanics applicable to different clinical challenges
– Statically indeterminate mechanics:
- Understanding how the wire/bracket system works and its limitations
- The biomechanics of alignment.
– The segmented arch approach:
- Working with segments or a single archwire
- Active and reactive units
- The use of palatal and lingual arches.
Day 3, hands-on workshop
– Bending and activating cantilevers for different clinical applications
– Bending and activating palatal and lingual arches
– Bending and activating passive wire segments.
A list of instuments that you need to take with you to hands-on workshop:
– Angle plier (Bird peak)
– Weingart or How pliers
– Lingual arch forming plier
– Ligature cutter
– Hard wire cutter
– Mathieu plier
– Band pusher/scaler
– Force gauge Correx (0-100g).
