Analizaremos el caso clínico de una niña con un perfil armónico pero que presenta en boca un gran nivel de apiñamiento piñamiento.
Lo primero es preguntarnos si podemos solucionar este apiñamiento con extracciones o sin extracciones.
Apoyándonos en la Proyección de Tratamiento de Ricketts o Steiner podemos resolver si serán necesarias las extracciones.
En este caso especifico, alinear los dientes sin extracciones nos puede llevar a alterar el perfil facial, originando una biprotrusión.
Para distalizar los caninos iniciaremos el movimiento dental con un laceback, luego aplicaremos un arco seccional de distalización para aplicar una fuerza ligera y controlada.
Usando este arco podemos controlar los efectos de distalización y extrusión.
Además podemos evitar efectos deletéreos como la inclinación y la rotación que se podrían generar.
