This course is arguably one of the most comprehensive biomechanics programs in the world. It encompasses 175 hours of lectures, practical workshops, mechanics design, and clinical case discussions.
The OBEC is structured in two blocks of lectures and practical activities. The first three weeks and the last two weeks of the course are generally taking place in different periods, with a minimum distance of two months.

Week 1
Monday:
— Introduction to the Course
— Basics of Biomechanics, Forces and Moments, Center of Resistance
— Vector Calculations with Exercises.
Tuesday:
— Dental Movements, C. of Rotation Equivalent Force Systems with Exercises
— Relation between the force system and the dental movement Exercises.
Wednesday:
— Force Systems:
- Active/Passive Units
- Frictional/Non Frictional
- Statical Determination
- Consistency.
— Equilibrium:
- Anchorage Needs Estimation
- Exercise.
— Occlusal Anchorage Management.
Thursday:
— Occlusogram Introduction - Digital Models and The DDP Software
— First Occlusogram. Executed both by instructors and students
— More occlusograms exercises.
Friday:
— Use of Virtual Articulator for mandibular repositioning
— 3d Occlusogram and Virtual Set Up Exercise
— Dma Software and Exercises Introduction to 3d Biomechanics Analysis.
Week 2
Monday:
— Statically Determinate Mechanics and Cantilevers
— Typodont Passive segments and lingual arches.
Tuesday:
— Exercise in designing Statically Determinate Mechanics
— Two Vector Mechanics
— Typodont: Basic Cantilevers.
Wednesday:
— Instruction: How to prepare a Case for Presentation
— Typodont: Cantilevers with configuration.Composite Cantilevers and Welding Exercises.
Thursday:
— Statically indeterminate systems: The Six Geometries
— The Dynamic of Geometries. Alignment with linear segments
— Typodont, Understand geometries during alignment with segments.
Friday:
— V Bends and Alpha beta Springs
— Typodont: Six Geometries, V Bend, Alpha Beta Springs.
Week 3
Monday:
— Alignment Loops
— Typodont Rectangular Loops
— TPA and Lingual Arches 1.
Tuesday:
— TPA and Lingual Arches 2
— Vertical Problems.
Wednesday:
— Vertical Problems
— Typodont: TPA and L. Arches.
Thursday:
— Skeletal Anchorage
— Typodont: Deep bite correction.
Friday:
— Metallurgy
— Insertion of Tads, Connector set up
— Hands on
— Extra alveolar Anchorage.
Week 4
Monday:
— Space Closure with Loops
— Typodont: T Loops.
Tuesday:
— Space Closure with Statically determinate systems
— Typodont: Space Closure with Statically Det. Mechanics.
Wednesday:
— Biomechanics and Aligner Therapy
— Biology of dental movement
— Typodont: Torque and Uprighting.
Thursday:
— Asymmetric Cases, Diagnosis and Planning
— Mandibular Repositioning General Concepts.
Friday:
— Mandibular Repositioning Cases
— Combining Straight wire and Segmented Arch.
Week 5

— Torque and Uprighting

Лектори 1
Creator of the software T3do and DMA for Orthodontic treatment planning and mechanics design.
Dr. Fiorelli obtained his medical, dental, and orthodontic postgraduate degrees at the University of Siena in Italy.
He has also co-published with Prof. Birte Melsen the “Biomechanics in Orthodontics” multimedia software.
His main professional interests are orthodontic biomechanics, use of computers within the orthodontic practice, segmented arch technique and adult orthodontic treatment.
